Description
LYPD6B (Ly6/PLAUR domain-containing protein 6B), a member of Ly-6 superfamily, is isolated from human testis cDNA library. Ly-6 (lymphocyte antigen 6) superfamily members are cysteine-rich, normally GPI (glycosyl phosphatidylinositol)-anchored cell surface proteins, which have definite or putative immune related roles (3,4). LYPD6B contains signal peptide (N-terminal), UPAR/Ly6 domain, propeptide (C-terminal) and mature human LYPD6B is 125 amino acids in length and especially highly expressed in testis, lung, stomach, and prostate and localized in the cytoplasm. LYPD6B overexpressed in HEK 293T cells is able to activate the transcriptional activities of AP1 (PMA), but a reason of this event is unclear
